"You're Out" is an animated short film telling the story of a man who opts out of society. He becomes a longing observer who recognizes the overwhelming power of nature and is no longer impressed by death.

Für den Außenseiter im Animationsfilm You're Out (2010) von Max Liebich ist die Zeit so ausgehebelt wie andere Gewissheiten, der feste Boden unter den Füßen zum Beispiel. Er ist allein. Das Leben ist vorbei. Nichts geht mehr. Besonders reizvoll ist die fast haptische Retro-Materialität der Animation, die anrührend Trauer und Resignation vermittelt (Musik: Ciao Merlin).

Die friedfertige Ästhetik der Berglandschaft und die spielerisch ruckartigen Bewegungen der Hauptdarstellerpuppe können nicht darüber hinwegtäuschen, dass es hier um Ernsteres geht: Das Leben ist schneller zu Ende als erwartet. So wie Kronos seine Kinder frisst, so köpft die Turmuhr den Türmer, der sich absichtlich oder unabsichtlich - zur Musik von Ciao Merlin zu weit hinausgelehnt hat. Er ist am Ende seines Auszählreims angekommen.
